Hence the thought arose for Engineer Fornaroli of how we could protect ourselves, at least within our homes, in our places of study and work, and in all shared parts of the community.
Over the last two years we have unfortunately experienced the problem of the
spread of viruses, which made us speed up the development of our ViruStop Air. This small device was created to filter and purify the air we breathe and thus protect people’s health effectively and efficiently. Fully functional prototypes were built and with the help of an entrepreneur, a business model was defined to make it available to the public.
Unfortunately, the pandemic that first struck the inhabitants of Codogno in Lombardy was an excellent test-bed for the product, and it was here that the first ViruStop Air devices were built and tested.
The users who are using ViruStop Air, doctors’ offices and surgeries, have been our first advocates for the validity of the device.
Thanks to the sum of the technologies applied to ViruStop Air, activated charcoal filters and germicidal LEDs, we have seen improved air quality, the absence of unpleasant odours, the reduction of allergic rhinitis, the reduction of suspended dust, and above all, thanks to the UVC LED technology, the abatement of viruses.
ViruStop Air has a purification capacity of 63 cubic metres per hour, the equivalent of a room of approx. 23 square metres, i.e. approx. 4.75 x 5.00 x h 2.70 metres.
The operation of the device does not involve any nuisance, ViruStop Air is silent, does not produce fumes, does not produce harmful electromagnetic waves, and can be left running 24 hours a day, as it has a negligible electricity consumption of 0.00192 kWh. As an example, if you left it on for a whole year, 24 hours a day, you would only spend around 15€ a year, with electricity prices in September 2022.
The body, available in different colours, is moulded in fully recyclable ABS plastic.
ViruStop Air, conceived, designed, tested and entirely manufactured in Italy, is produced in a size of 18 x 12 cm, making the device easily placeable in any corner or wall, of the home, work or school environment. It is powered at 12 volts with a transformer supplied.
ViruStop Air is equipped with a cover filter, a granular activated charcoal filter, a fan and the ultraviolet light germicidal LED. The granular activated charcoal filter prevents dust from accumulating and obstructing the air flow, as well as preventing the germicidal LED from hindering its function. The air circulation fan is 12 volts with a diameter of 12 cm. The ultraviolet light germicidal LED with UV-C wavelength inactivates viruses, bacteria and other microorganisms when exposed to this radiation. Its action also helps reduce odours. In addition, the activated charcoal filter
composed of a material containing mainly amorphous carbon and having a highly porous structure and high specific area, is intended to purify and cleanse the air of odours, fumes and vapours. It is recommended that the filters be cleaned periodically according to use in dusty environments.
